METER AND VENDING SYSTEM

Wasion's keypad prepayment solution is one of prepayment solutions which support flexible payment means for the consumer. It does comply with IEC62055 and standard transfer specification (STS).

The diagram above illustrates a typical keypad prepayment system. It consists of keypad meter and vending system or POS. Energy consumer goes to POS to buy electricity and get Credit Token encrypted in 20 digits. The Credit Token (20 digits) is inputted to meter via keypad and de-encrypted to credit register. The token could be printed on paper, sent via cell's SMS (short message),Internet.

CIU (Customer Interface Unit) is independent keypad from meter which allows consumer to key in token. Communication between CIU and meter could be RS485, PLC or RF.

BUYING ELECTRICITY VIA TOKEN

An STS prepayment meter can be  installed in a consumer's house, and the vending points where consumers  purchase  electricity  are established at convenient locations, near  consumers' houses. The vending management system is located at the utility offices. This mechanism will provide all the information and data regarding the various vending points, including reports and audit trails.

The consumer goes to their vending points (POS) (this could be a local store, the utility financial offices, a supermarket or petrol station), and purchases a token in exchange for equivalent cash. The token comprises a 20 digit number encrypted.

The consumer  inputs this 20 digit number through keypad of meter,and the meter receives, de-encrypts and adds it to credit register.

When the credit has expired, and no new token is entered, electricity supply will be automatically suspended.

The supply of electricity will resume after new valid token is inputted.
